Perhaps the biggest surprise in the 2021 Q2 Roll20 report is the re-design. D&D is still the most popular game played.
In the 2021 Q1 report, Call of Cthulhu was played in about 11% of campaigns and in Q2 that figure rises to over 14%.
There looks to be a difference between the stats on the infographic and in the downloadable data provided (PDF link).
Game | Infographic Stat | PDF stat |
---|---|---|
D&D 5e | 53.7% | 47% |
Uncategorized | 19.8% | 17.4% |
Call of Cthulhu | 16.3% | 14.3% |
Pathfinder | 3.4% | 2.98% |
Pathfinder 2e | 1.8% | 1.6% |
Warhammer | 1.2% | 1.1% |
World of Darkness | 1.2% | 1.1% |
Roll20 calls out some games to watch. There’s Blades in the Dark at the top, given the TV show is coming and loads of Forged games available, that seems like a good call.
The Japanese horror RPG, inSANe, is called out again, as is Geen Ronin’s Mutants & Masterminds, which remains a popular superhero game and lastly Ironsworn, which offers GMless play.
