As a quick catch up, Wizards of the Coast have announced a new edition of Dungeons & Dragons for 2024.
They’ve not said whether these are D&D 5.5 or D&D 6 but have said they will be compatible with D&D 5.0. I’m calling them the 50th-anniversary D&D, or D&D 50e.
There are also new settings, Mordenkainen Presents Monsters of the Multiverse, which is part of Rules Expansion Gift Set and potential returns to classic settings.
The Head of Dungeons & Dragons, Ray Winninger, has been on Twitter attempting to reduce confusion around the complex timeline with potentially moving parts.

50th-anniversary edition D&D
The dates are tentative, and it’s unusual for Wizards of the Coast to give us peaks this far into the future. However, a new edition of D&D is a significant launch that will need careful management.
It’s likely Wizards will want D&D fans to get used to the idea. A live poll from Geek Native currently suggests that more than 70% of D&D fans do not want to rebuy their books just to get access to digital formats like a VTT.
