Eat Your Dice: Honey Badger Games

We don’t get Honey Badgers here in Scotland. We get the friendly Wind in the Willows types with black and white snouts that keep themselves to themselves.

My understanding is that Honey Badgers are small, nasty and angry. In which case, Honey Badger Games is terribly named. They may be small, but they’re sweet.

I saw the company profiled by OnTableTop‘s live stream of the semi-lockdown UK Games Expo. I saw someone hold up dice that looked so good that you could eat. And you can.

Honey Badger Games sell gummy dice. They come in test tubes, and you can gobble them down quite safely.

The company also sells little edible mana and health potions, also gummy, also in test tubes. Guess what? They, too, are delicious.

I bought too many. I wanted to qualify for shipping and offers, so I took up every incentive to add just one more test tube of sugary goodness that Honey Badger Games put in front of me. Right now, it’s kinder; you only need two tubes to get free UK delivery.

Taste

These dice taste good! That’s not an expression I thought I’d write. The catch, though, is they’re swallow-sized, so you don’t get that long to taste them. They’re one and done.

I’ve tried taking smaller bites, it’s a bit awkward if you’ve got a big head like me, but it was enough to complete the test. Not only do these dice taste as advertised – “Rhubarbarian and custard” in one case – but they’re fresh and spongy too. These aren’t dice you’ll crack your teeth on.

Health

These dice aren’t so good. Of course not. They’re sugar. BUT! The calories printed on the side of the tube aren’t as bad as I feared. 240Kcal per 100 grams.

As a bonus, the dice (and the mana bottles) last a while as a reason to go slow. My delivery had months and months to go before approaching their best date.

Overall

I’m glad I experimented; I’m tempted to do it again for more… ah, experiments.

Really, though, these dice feel more appropriate loot from conventions or gifts for someone else. If I wanted a cheap candy hit, I could get it elsewhere at more value. These dice are for novelty and quality. As gifts, they’ll do you proud.

The holiday season is coming, gifts to give. I hope and expect Honey Badger will be busy. Gorgeous tiny tasty dice will make you friends.
