The RPG supplement The Practical Guide to Becoming a Great GM pushes towards the £100,000 Kickstarter funding level as GMs, DMs and Storytellers support YouTube host Sclanders’ latest project.
The 250+ page book promises to help people run better tabletop games. You can find out more or pledge support from the project page.
Sclanders presents the book as the culmination of 20plus years of experience and six years of development. That’s an impressive project.
At the heart of the promise is mastery of the techniques required to design games to run themselves. Chapters include “Where do good ideas come from?”, “How to expand your imagination”, “Discover your GM style – its strengths and weaknesses”, and “Constraints of a GM and why they make you stronger”.
Over the years I have seen so many folks want to GM but never start because of the overwhelming pressure that is perceived to come with a being a GM. I also find that experienced GMs are becoming and have become frustrated with the workload and the expectation of always being the GM, and eventually give up or stop playing.
A pledge of £20 to support the campaign will result in a DRM-free PDF edition delivered as a reward.
At £45, the reward becomes a hardcover and with shipping costs to be added later. The DRM-free digital copy is included.
There’s also a retailer option where shops can snag 4 copies of the hardback to sell on.
