There’s a new D&D print book available today as Wizards of the Coast has made Minsc and Boo’s Journal of Villainy available as a $15 PDF download, $35 softcover and $45 hardcover.
Update: 8th October 2021– It’s vanished! It may return later, and it may be a consequence but the author released Raiders of the Serpent Sea Player’s Guide as a free download.
Update 2: Boo and Minsc are back.
Money raised goes to the publisher’s charity partner, Extra Life.
James Ohlen, the author, is the lead designer for Baldur’s Gate I and II. It’s not the only D&D download in James’ name; they also wrote Heroes of Baldur’s Gate, an adventure supplement.
The 158-page supplement is presented as a journal of the legendary pet hamster and the Ranger accompanying him. Can you imagine those two keeping a journal? It’s an editorial job for Volo Geddarm.
While the publisher is Wizards of the Coast, the supplement is available through the DMs Guild. This is the usual approach for such special editions.
There are details of four cities, Athkatla and Baldur’s Gate itself, six arch-villains complete with eleven henchmen and a dozen new monsters. However, there’s also patrons and friends of Boo and Minsc in the download.
