John Stancil’s The Matrix TTRPG has been updated. It’s free to download and you can read all 25-pages of it below while it resides at this Google Drive address.
Wake up Neo.
The Matrix tabletop RPG, which is entirely unofficial, details agents and machines. If you know the trilogy so far, then the bespoke system gives you a quick and rules-lite route into the Matrix. So to speak!
The straightforward system has players roll d6 with points scored for the values that come up. A 1 is worth -1, and 6 is worth 2. An easy task needs 1 point to succeed, a hard one 3 and an impossible one 5 or more.
The more skill a character has then, the more dice they get to roll.
During the game, the GM tallies Anomaly points, for each 10 of those, a d100 to see what weirdness might happen.
Version 1.3 adds a “Critical” system for crits and botches and changes the health rules and movement and hacks.
Designer John Stancil also tweaks combat and character generation, adding playing an Operator Free Born citizen instead of Awakened.
The fourth film, The Matrix Resurrections, stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity again. They’re joined by Jessica Henwick, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and an impressive cast.
Matrix 4 is due out on 22nd December with tickets available via Fandango or Cineworld.
