Edge Studio has taken over from Fantasy Flight as Asmodee’s RPG publisher. That means they’re running Genesys and have the exciting task of bringing the Twilight Imperium RPG to life.
For Free RPG Day this year, Free RPG Day Edge made a new introductory and self-contained adventure available. You can now download Ashes of Power (PDF Link) for free, even if you missed out before.
You don’t need a copy of the Genesys core rules to play Ashes of Power, as it is designed to get you interested in the RPG system in the first place. The PDF is self-contained with pre-made characters and a complete but simplified set of rules.
You do need special Genesys dice. But! There’s a free dice roller app available from Edge Studio.
Is it worth the effort? Well, you get to play as either a Human orbital drop trooper, a Hacan wayfarer, a genius Hylar field scholar, or a charming Xxcha liaison. The Twilight Imperium board game is over £100 and hugely popular despite that. Ashes of Power might well be an attractive way to explore the game’s universe instead.
