The UK and US stats are out from JustWatch, the streaming entertainment search engine.
We see geeky content continues to be mainstream, and that anime is doing really well – Cowboy Bebop even climbing from last month. But, it’s not quite total dominance from the land of the geek. The Wheel of Time, which is free for Amazon Prime members, is pipped to the post in the US shows chart by Yellowstone.

We’ve separate league tables for the US and the UK since those dratted regional rights are so dramatic. As the drama over Star Trek: Discovery shows, which vanished from Netflix everywhere outside America after CBS took control, sometimes it’s impossible to watch the same shows.
The differences in entertainment trends start long before the streaming platforms get involved, in many cases. Yellowstone, after all, has been out for years.

Is it cheapest to do that in the States? No, the United States is pretty much the most expensive place. Though predictably, Switzerland is even more expensive.

In addition, markets like the States have access to platforms like Fandango to research movies, just as they have to JustWatch to investigate where to see a streaming show.
The Wheel of Time didn’t quite make it to the top spot in American charts this month, but since it’s doing a release a week, and we’re entering the holiday season, perhaps we’ll see it there next month.
