It’s D20 day, and Wizards of the Coast have updated their freebie page.
Described as both an “abridged” version and as a preview, what’s on offer is the Dragon of Icespire Peak, and that’s the introductory adventure from the official Dungeons & Dragons Essentials Kit.
Wizards say;
The following download contains a special preview version of material presented in the D&D Essentials Kit, and is meant as a new group’s first Dungeons & Dragons experience. The short adventure material, characters, and other supplemental information here should get a group started on their journey!
There are actually two downloads. The first is the aforementioned Dragon of Icespire Peak Adventure preview (PDF link) and the second the characters (PDF link).
It’s handy having two separate PDFs as it means one can be safely given to the players without risk of spoilers. The first is kept secretly by the DM.
It’s also handy that this adventure is such a high profile one as there are tips and guides for it already in place. Mike from Sly Flourish wrote this one in 2019.
