Kult is a horror RPG rich with the occult and gnostic references and very adult.
The studio behind the latest version, Kult: Divinity Lost, are Helmgast AB. Helmgast teamed up with Red Moon Roleplaying, the ENnie-award-winning podcast series on the free to download scenario Et In Arcadia Ego.
The game is based on a 30-year-old scenario by James Estes. It’s been revisited, updated and expanded. There are five pre-made characters, and the system references have been adjusted to suit Kult: Divinity Lost.
You can experience a Red Moon playthrough of the encounters below or check out the 27-page drama below. As a reminder, Kult is an adult RPG. Don’t scroll through the adventure if;
- you might be a player in it
- you are offended by adult material
Triggers include; full nudity, death, AIDS and horror.
On the same note, while Red Moon Roleplaying’s playthrough tries to be sensitive, they warn the audience of the sensitivities around the AIDS epidemic and its impact on communities.
If you like the looks of Helmgast’ work but suspect Kult would be too heavy for you, you’re not alone, and there is always The Troubleshooters. I didn’t get that particular RPG this year, money let me down, but it has a different vibe. It’s not Tintin, but it reminds you of that era’s European comics.
