Geek Native doesn’t post a fair share of slice of life anime, those that tell real-life (or potentially real-life) stories because they don’t make for great trailers. Especially if, like me, you don’t speak Japanese.
Crunchyroll describes AKEBI’s School Uniform as “slow, sparkling coming-of-age” and they’re right. This trailer starts slow but with the help of the opening theme, “Hajimari no Setsuna,” it pulls you in.
Hiro’s story in the original manga is of Komichi Akebi and class in a posh girls school. The voice talent on the project is impressive.
Manatsu Murakami, who was Yuki in ODDTAXI, is Komichi Akebi. The primary classmates are voiced by Sora Amamiya, Aqua in KONOSUBA Akari Kito, Nezuko in Demon Slayer, and Shion Wakayama, Sawa Echizen in Farewell, My Dear Cramer. That’s a who’s who of 2021’s anime’s big hits.
The series will be broadcast in Japan from the 8th of January.
