Jujutsu Kaisen 0 translates, I’m told, to something like sorcery battle.
The feature-length horror action is out in Japan and would be a runaway success with earnings of 2.7 billion yen in the first few days. However, we also had Demon Slayer out earlier this year which remains untouched. It’s a sorcery battle between these two anime.
This trailer demos the theme song, “Itto” by King Gnu.
The prequel movie introduces the young character of Rika Orimoto (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) and the childhood friend of Yuka. The two had hoped to marry, but Rika dies in a car crash and becomes a vengeful curse.
Viz has the English language rights and the manga up on comiXology under the name Jujutsu Kaisen: Blinding Darkness. They describe it;
Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem — his childhood friend Rika has turned into a curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the curse that haunts him?
The TV series was streamed by Crunchyroll outside of Asia in many languages and was a season hit. The 24th and final episode ran on March 26.
