I can’t say the Genius Prince starts this trailer with much motivational charisma!
It’s the second promo video for the coming-to-Funimation anime based on Toru Toba and Falmaro’s light novel. The stories are available in English, published by Yen and found in Amazon.
The previous trailer sets the scene, and even then, it wasn’t clear whether the so-called hero was that likeable.
The show is coming to Funimation, but there’s no listing for it and no official description.
The Yen Press summary talks about “selling out”, which may be an awkward translation. The Amazon blurb for volume one of the novels says;
It ain’t easy being a genius…
Prince Wein is ready to commit treason. And who can blame him? Faced with the impossible task of ruling his pathetic little kingdom, this poor guy just can’t catch a break! But with his brilliant idea of auctioning off his country, this lazy prince should be able to retire once and for all. Or that was the plan…until his treasonous schemes lead to disastrous consequences-namely, accidental victories and the favor of his people!
That doesn’t seem much better, does it? The prince is still selling off parts of his country, and that’s a country that he considers pathetic.
But who knows where the story will take us? It’s not as if anime is known for arrow-straight plot lines.
The series will start on the 11th of January in Japan, with Funimation expected to air it simultaneously. So we won’t have long to wait.
