I don’t blame you if you’re expecting me to introduce an isekai anime. That’s one where someone from our world ends up in a fantasy one.
It might feel like one in every three new anime is an isekai. In truth, it’s one in every five.
Ya Boy Kongming! flips that, reverting to the more traditional approach, and takes someone from history and drops them in our world. Once, this was more common than isekai.
Ya Boy Kongming! will air in Japan in April. It’s based on the manga by Yuto Yotsuba and Ryo Ogawa with voice talent, including Ryotaro Okiayu (Byakuya Kuchiki in Bleach) as Zhuge Kongming and Kaede Hondo (Sakura Minamoto in ZOMBIE LAND SAGA) as Eiko Tsukumi.
Kodansha Comics publish the English manga series and describe it;
General of the Three Kingdoms, Kongming had struggled his whole life, facing countless battles that made him into the accomplished strategist he was. So on his deathbed, he wished only to be reborn into a peaceful world… and was sent straight to modern-day party-central, Tokyo! Can even a brilliant strategist like Kongming adapt to the wild beats and even wilder party people?!
