Today, D101 Games released their SRD for OpenQuest.
SRDs, System Resource (or Reference) Documents outline what third-party publishers can take from an RPG and use in their own material that’s compatible with the original.
The first SRD was published in 2000 by Wizards of the Coast, and since then, there’s been many more. Publishing an SRD has become a standard approach for publishers slowly and without much fanfare. In conjunction with OGLs, Open Game Licenses, SRDs help to enable community content programs such as 20+ hosted by DriveThurRPG.
OpenQuest is a set of d100 rules, first published in 2009, and is itself based on the SRD of Mongoose Publishing’s Legend RPG. The system is for high fantasy adventures, designed to be straightforward, quick to learn and easy to play.
The OpenQuest Quick-Start: The Lost Outpost is available for free at DriveThruRPG. Many of its rules overlap with the newly published SRD and over characters, combat and magic.
