The combination of Firebox’s marketing budgets and Facebook’s targeting algorithm combined to recommend this fringe pack of Stormtrooper beer to me as a potential Valentine’s Day gift.
- Where that works; yes, I’d like this as a gift or to give it as a gift.
- Where this doesn’t work; no, sorry, I’m single, so no Valentine’s Day gifts for me.
- The compromise; buy for myself and drink alone on the 14th? 😆
There’s also probably a joke about taking shots or getting hit (on) that I could be making. It’s out of reach for this post-lunch brain of mine, though. Firebox takes the “No wonder they can’t shoot straight…” approach.
What’s on offer are four 330ml cans of craft beer;
- Galactic Pale Ale 2.0 (4.8% ABV)
- Lightspeed Pilsner 2.0 (5% ABV)
- SNIPA – Situation Normal India Pale Ale (4.4% ABV)
- Shadow Stout (6.6% ABV)
The beer comes from Vocation Brewery. The who have a shop of their own and free delivery on orders over £35.
The “About us” on Vocation Brewery is the story of one man’s escape from a bank IT job to set up a brewery, from a rebuilt chicken shed, and the birth of Vocation.
The company sells 10 million cans per year and employs around 60 people. A grand success but is it still craft beer at this point? As far as I can tell, there’s no sign that Vocation has been snapped up by one of the megacorps, so that’s something.
