Looking for a new pre-written 5e adventure? Logan Reese, aka Runesmith from YouTube and the designer of Stibbles’ Codex of Companions, has teamed up with Hawaiian values consultancy Purple Mai’a and Eldermancy for Sunken Isles.
The adventure, which comes complete with more playable races and spells, has thousands of backers. There’s more than $200,000 pledged and more than a month still for funds to come in. You can follow progress or join in at Kickstarter.
$1,000 goes to Purple Mai’a with each stretch goal that gets met.
The adventure gives characters 20 weeks to save islands from destruction. Each week takes one or more gaming sessions, and characters level up with each one. Sunken Isles absolutely isn’t the only adventure to take PCs from level 1 to 20, but this is an interesting way to do it.
The new fantasy races include crustaceans such as Decapodians, the aquatic Kia’i and the dinosaur-like Mirescales.
The Isles of Manaki are a cluster of islands created by a roaming deity that has been cast into the ocean of a foreign world and left to grow on its own. Each island was forged using the blood of this divine being, and the strength of its magic is apparent across the isles. Plants grow suddenly and without explanation, wild creatures are abundant and fantastical, and the people native to this strange land can speak with authority to nature itself. This is because everything in the isles can be considered a living spirit, all of which are designed to work in a harmonious and communal way.
Trisha Kehaulani Watson, J.D., Ph.D., from Manoa in Hawai’i is also a cultural consultant on the project.
Backers supporting the project at $25 or more will get given a Sunken Isles PDF as a reward.
Stepping up to $55 adds not just the book’s hardcover but also the Island Dice set.
$85 is enough to unlock the Players Journal and Siege Combat set as additional rewards. The GM screen, tactical map packs, Isles of Manaki Map set, Island Folk miniature set, boss miniature set and a random encounter set are also added at $135.
The top tier is $250, further adding the Atoll Special Edition dice set and the Sunken Isles Special Edition as rewards.
Regardless of the reward tier backers qualify for, pledges are expected to be fulfilled in January 2023.
