Eric Bloat, co-designer of many RPGs, was inspired by Legend of Zelda as a young boy. Eric and artist Phil Stone are helming a project to bring as many monsters inspired by that iconic Nintendo game to a tabletop RPG near you.
The Overworld tabletop RPG monster manual zines will be available in 5e, SURVIVE THIS!! and system neutral versions. The project launched and funded today, but you can still join from the pitch page.
The goal of the campaign is to make printed zines 6×9 inches and around 40+ pages. The catch? No international shipping on offer. However, there are PDFs available.
A sample of the enemies in this mini monster manual are;
- Armanamentus
- Ausmos
- Kandar The Terrible
- Kleever
- Manhandler
- Moglin
- Poe’s Ghost
- Rope Snake
A pledge of $7 is enough for the digital Overworld, and you pick whether you want that as a system-neutral, 5e or SURVIVE THIS!! version. At the time of writing, 5e is the most popular.
At $15, you get all three versions, and this tier is even more popular than the combined individual offerings.
Alternatively, for $15 in support, backers will be rewarded with one print and the matching digital edition of the Overworld zine. Shipping is restricted, though.
It’s $35 to get all three in both formats, with the same physical shipping issues.
Add-ons play a fairly important role in the campaign too. Managed by Kickstarters’ system, rather than a backer kit, they are the only way into other zines in the series.
