Nemo Dowme has taken inspiration from anime feature-length to weave an RPG of fairy tale charm and the darkness of cautionary folklore. The result is the Zin Never Dies tabletop RPG.
The German-based writer and artist needs €7,500 to hit the campaign target and, after only a few days, has more than €6,500 in pledges. If you want to join in or find out more, you can quest over to the Kickstarter page.
There’s a free to download quickstart for Zine Never Dies, a TTRPG preview available from Gumroad.
The quickstart notes inspiration like Princess Mononoke and darker fantasy titles like The Witcher. There’s beauty here if you know where to look and dangers for those who look without knowing.
Zim Never Dies the Roleplaying Game contains its own core system rules, a player guide and master guide, as well as 7 original species, 10 unique lands and dozens of strange creatures.
Magic, in this game, is zim.
The RPG engine is an original and called the Fitting Action system, and it uses a twist on d20 systems but puts the narrative first.
While the gods are real, and magic once used, it is not anymore. There are no spells left in the game, but there are Towers. At these Spirit infested locations, you change the world with Zinful magic.
Zin Never Dies is a roleplaying game both charming & spooky. Enter a world of Masks & Spirits, where the Gods are real, but you’ll wish they weren’t… A world where slugs wear suits of armor; where callosal Gods visit 4 times a year; where strange, little masked people emerge from empty caves, with no face and no memories…
A pledge of €20 (about £17) will get you a mention, the digital edition of Zim Never Dies and all the digital stretch goals.
Supporters who step up to offer €40 will get the hardcover, the PDF, all the digital rewards and a mention. Nemo is supporting worldwide shipping.
At €60, the Hush adventure in PDF is added, all physical stretch goals, a sticker pack and an enamel pin.
Then, at €80, the hardback becomes the deluxe edition, and you get an art print plus everything else from before.
Backers who find €100 get a signed deluxe book and everything that’s been promised. Those who have €200 for the project get that and become an NPC in the official adventure.
The top tier is €300, in which you’ll create a creature for the bestiary as well.
There are add-ons, so you can pick your own bundle if you want, and the expected fulfilment is in March 2023.
