Kim Bourrie is a 3d modeller and game designer who combines both talents in Furhaven. The Kickstarter for the 5e setting includes 3d-printable models and an introductory setting.
The anime World of Aloria needs $60,000 to fund, but the campaign’s barely off the launch pad and has nearly $50,000 of that already. That’s over 500 backers. Curious? Fur-curious? You can find out more on the pitch page.
There are some generous freebies already available for Furhaven with this 17-page free to download Lost Library adventure and the 3d-printable assassin’s teapot.
The World of Aloria is full of adorable characters, but there’s also danger and mystery. The central hub is the settlement of Hurhaven, humble furs from forests, pastures and sunny spaces.
Furhaven has been designed to be light on complexity. Is it 5e? At times, Kim Bourrie calls it “5e Like-Experience”, but 5e is adaptable that way.
The core rules offer new races, familial bonuses and species special abilities, unique bonuses and abilities for the new characters. There are new lands, new stories, characters, unique lore, and ancient and forgotten religions.
The known World of Aloria is roughly divided into three main areas: Furhaven, the sprawling forest community where the Furs live in their cozy dens, modest homes and fortified towns; Feather Wood, high in the branches overhead where the Feathers oversee all and attempt to control all the powerful magics that are found; and Scale City, vast home of the Wet Scales and Dry Scales, where multiple clans struggle for supremacy and watch for the menace of the slithering followers of Vasuki – the God of Chaos – who call Slither City there home.
Backers at the $17 mark will get a PDF copy of the 250-page long Furhaven Campaign book.
At $35, the rewards are 3d STLs instead.
Those who step up to $45 will be rewarded with a physical copy, and PDF edition but with shipping to be added later.
$50 means digital STLs for the minis and the PDF for the game, and at $55, it’s the boxed RPG instead.
There are higher tiers, including some merchant and retail options. Estimated delivery is slated for April 2023.
