INSPIRISLES found success on Kickstarter last year and Hatchlings’ RPG taught players British (BSL) or American Sign Language (ASL).
However, the campaign setting for it, OVERISLES is now on Kickstarter and doing very well. You could say it’s soaring, and you can fly to back it at the pitch page.
The INSPIRISLES RPG was once Pay What You Want at DriveThruRPG, but that listing appears to have been pulled. The PDF is available for $13.40 currently.
The core rules are also available, effectively for free, as a Kickstarter reward in this campaign.
The game is designed to promote empathy, cooperation and Deaf awareness. Characters are gifted teens who must work together to save the realm, and ASL/BSL is used in the system to ride giant birds, wield elements and battle creatures.
The campaign will produce a full-colour PDF and hardcover with over 100 pages on the new setting, the history of the kingdom and Feathering (the skill of communicating in flight). It offers over 20 hex titles, illustrations featuring knot art and creatures inspired by Celtic Arthurian folklore and, of course, sign language material and links to video tutorials.
Hatchlings say;
Our games are inspired by over a decade working with the Deaf community and by our local 5e Dungeons & Dragons group for high schoolers. Our company is even named after those delightful Hatchlings teens! With them in mind, OVERISLES, much like INSPIRISLES, has been created to benefit gamers of all ages, and we are hoping parents, educators, tabletop beginners, and enthusiasts alike invest in our projects. Many of us cherish those 80s fantasy classics such as The NeverEnding Story and Labyrinth. OVERISLES aims to capture some of that nostalgic magic and transport its players back to a more carefree and imaginative time.
A pledge of £15 (sorry to jump around currencies) gets those video tutorials, OVERISLES and INSPIRISLES in PDF.
Backers who step up to £35 get OVERISLES hardcover added along with physical stretch goals.
Then, at £60, the hardcover of INSPIRISLES is added too.
A limited-edition £300 tier exists with chargen, a credit in the book, and Nimbus hard-enamel pin.
The estimated delivery for the project is February 2023.
