Wade Dyer asked the Kickstarter community for AU$60,000 to fund his RPG, a community that sees RPGs every day, and Wade got it. In fact, we’re pushing at 100% overfunded with nearly a month left on the clock.
Fragged Empire is a great looking sci-fi RPG, and this Kickstarter is for a 2nd edition of the post-post-apocalyptic game. You can find out more or join the pledges from the project page.
Inspirations for the game range from Cowboy Bebop, Firefly and even Farscape. In fact, PCs will typically be from one of eight alien races.
The 2nd edition of the Fragged Empire RPG has slimmed down and more intuitive rules than the 1st. The Lore has been expanded, pushing beyond the Haven system and making the most of the game’s setting.
New rules add more Traits, Weapons, Outfits and Utilities with a new Arcane Skill Roll system to give players greater storytelling control over how their characters interact with the world.
Other new rules include reworked Companions, Spacecraft Influence, healing and repair, and a new Munitions system that replaces Ammo and Rate of Fire. Many of the changes will be familiar to Fragged Aeternum and Kingdom players, games from Wade after the success of the 1st edition of Fragged Empire.
Fragged Empire is a post-post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting where your people are just now returning to space following a century of hiding during the aftermath of a galactic war where the Nephilim and their X’ion master successfully defeated the Archons and their servile nations. It’s a universe that leans heavily into themes of cultural tension and exploration, with a dash of transhumanism, nation-building and a hope for a better future.
A pledge of AU$25 (which is about £14) results in rewards of a PDF edition of the new rule book and a virtual tabletop version of the Miska Map Pack.
Alternatively, you can get a PDF of the Setting Guide Book and the map pack if you prefer.
At AU$40, you get both as a reward along with the digital editions of the Eat Cake adventure and the supplements Archetypes and Reference.
Backers who want physical books will find what they’re looking for at AU$95 as that includes a physical copy of the rule book and everything else still digital. The same option to swap the rules for the setting also exists.
The first tier, which offers both books, settings and rules, as physical weighs in at AU$150 (about £82).
There are higher tiers, add-ons and the estimated delivery date for the digital content is April 2022, which is just around the corner, and November for the physical books.
