Netflix has been running a reboot of Shaman King, a somewhat weirdly portrayed battle of spirit wielding warriors.
We’re on a break right now, the series coming in liberal doses, but the final fight of the Great Spirits arc is coming up.
What do I mean by “a somewhat weirdly portrayed battle”? The characters look like they can be straight out of a Saturday morning toon for kids, but the topics are dark. We’ve mental and physical torture, and irredeemably horrible acts are sometimes portrayed as almost jocular asides.
Nevertheless, the series seems quite popular, and I’m still watching.
Shaman King kicked off on April Fool’s Day last year, the most recent chunk of episodes came to the platform in January this year, and while the end of the Great Spirits story seems near, there’s no date for it yet.
