Japan’s biggest strategic card game is virtual, not physical and is available to play for free on Steam.
There are more than four million battles every day, and now there are more than one anime. Shadowverse F (for Flame) is the second anime for Cygames’ battler.
We see a world a bit like ours except with monsters. Small, cute and friendly monsters. As is the way of these shows, it looks like the natural thing people do in a world with monsters is make them fight.
The first anime comes in at 51 episodes and is available at Crunchyroll. They describe that series;
The hottest battle is about to begin! While attending Tensei Academy, Hiiro Ryugasaki ends up acquiring a mysterious smartphone. It comes installed with the popular card game, Shadowverse! Meeting new rivals, facing major tournaments, forging bonds with friends… Shadowverse leads Hiiro to all sorts of new experiences, all that serve to “evolve” him…
Shadowverse F is entirely original compared to previous Shadowverse content. The anime brings new characters. Light Tenryū and his friends end up in battles through the mysterious smartphone and the digital card game found on it.
The game keeps on developing, with Shadowverse: Champions Battle being released for the Switch last year.
