The trailer starts with a gruff muscled dude, shows our hero practising boxing, but as the name makes clear, Dance Dance Danseur, is about dancing.
The anime opens in Japan on April 8th and will stream only on Disney+’s Star section. Star is worldwide, outside of America, but it’s not yet clear whether Disney will take Dance Dance Danseur outside of Japan.
The anime is based on George Asakura’s manga and is directed by Munehisa Sakai. Sakai directed Zombie Land Saga, one of the most unexpected beginnings of any anime and then twists and turns its way through your interest, so it’ll be interesting to see how twisty and turny these dancers are.
Our hero is Junpei Murao, who was fascinated with ballet as a young boy but turned away from it in school after his father passed away. Feeling that he needs to be more manly, adopting the man-of-the-house role, Junpei picks up Jeet Kune Do, a martial art.
Life changes again when Miyako Godai joins the class, a transfer student whose mother runs a ballet studio.
