Monte Cook Games turn 10 this year, and they have a busy road map of new RPGs to celebrate.
The next edition of the dungeon-crawl board game Tidal Blades is already on Kickstarter, and with a week to run. It comes with its own Cypher System RPG, and the combination of the two has attracted more than $500,000 in pledges.
Yesterday, the RPG publisher also drew attention to another new Cypher System RPG. Old Gods of Appalachia is a tabletop roleplaying game of the Green, the Dark, and things even more ancient.
The game is coming to Kickstarter and the alert page is live.
The Appalachians are towering ancients that guarded Earth long before humans roamed the land. Being of madness and malign horror are prisoned inside, but time has worn at these mountains; even their fortress tomb bodies are beginning to grow thin. The slumbering things inside are stirring.
The game is based on the horror podcast of the same name.
In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind wandered into these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. These are the oldest mountains in the world. How dare we think we can break the skin of a god and dig out its heart without also calling blood and darkness?
There’s a special deal for those who hear the call of the old things as there’s an exclusive Barrow & Lock miner’s scrip coin for those backers who come from the notify list.
