Regular readers will know that Geek Native has taken to playing “spot the twist” in each Isekai anime that comes along. There’s no shortage of people born again in a fantasy world anime shows so it’s both a necessary and sometimes challenging game.
Not so for Reincarnated as a Sword. The twist is clear, sharp and dangerous.
Reincarnated as a Sword airs in Japan in October, and while we wait to see whether Crunchyroll or another streaming platform will pick it up, we can read the light novels care of Seven Seas. The distributor has the English language rights to Yuu Tanaka and Llo’s series.
It’s in Amazon and they describe it;
A modern man is reborn into a fantasy world as a sword in this new isekai light novel series! Reincarnated as a sentient weapon with memories of his past life, but not his name, a magical sword saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. Fran, the cat-eared girl, becomes his wielder, and wants only to grow stronger, while the sword wants to know why he is here. Together, the strange duo’s journey has only just begun!
The trailer, and not much information about the show, came out in this year’s AnimeJapan. We do know some of the cast. They are;
Shin’ichiro Miki (Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) as Shisho/Master and Ai Kakuma (Eris in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Fran
Reincarnated as a Sword is being directed by Shinji Ishihira. Ishihara also led that famous and early isekai Log Horizon.
