Infinite Black’s first 1UP Dice Kickstarter was at an impressive $150,000 when Geek Native looked at it. Clear sailing, right? Dice and funky retro-console cartridges on the way? Not so.
A still unresolved Intellectual Property despite shuttered the Kickstarter shortly after.
1UP-Dice II: The Revenge launched this week, has funded and is at … oh, look over $150,000 in pledges. You can join the many thousands of backers from pitch page.
The project looks similar to the old one, but one imagines that any particular brand’s old 80s gaming console is a little further off in the design references.
You get 8-bit themed dice and their containers complete with pixel art, rolling trays by design and magnet fixers.
1UP-Dice features:
- FREE “golden” d20 for Day 1 Backers.
- 11 polyhedral dice per set.
- 10 different sets.
- 9 radical retro symbols.
- Cartridge dice trays (plastic, which can hold 20+ dice, magnetic closure, art inside and out).
- Slipcases for multiple sets.
- D2 Coins.
- Enamel Pins.
- Embroidered Patches.
- Playmats.
I’ve Vast Grimm dice on the way or would be seriously tempted.
I don’t need more dice. I just want them, and I want dice as cool as these.
Each 1UP-Dice set comes packaged in a plastic cartridge case with a magnetic closure. The cartridge stores your dice and opens up to create a mini dice-rolling tray! We also have add-on sets of 10 piece Power Packs and d6 Expansion packs that include 9 six-sided dice.
You can back and support the project for any cash or share it on social media. If you have $27 (about £21) pledged, you’ll be rewarded with a mini adventure in PDF, an exclusive d2 coin, a magnetic cartridge box/dice tray and, of course, an 11-piece dice set plus stretch goals.
Level 2, $52, doubles die, the adventures and dice trays.
Level 3, $75, guess what, you get 3 sets of themed 11-piece dice, with their dice trays and adventures.
After that, there’s a collector’s set at $110 which adds Power Packs, a Mini-Boss Level at $225 for 6 sets and playmats, slipcases, and so the campaign goes on until we hit $345. There’s even a higher retailer tier.
Thankfully, there’s an add-on system to allow you some ability to pick and choose what you want.
