The streaming JustWatch has released data on streaming platforms in the US and UK.
These stats are calculated from the site’s own data on what programs people watch to infer which platforms are doing well. The first quarter of 2022 is now up, pretty much, and we’ve a good idea.
The release of UK data follows Netflix being heavily in the news on the back of rising fees, password sharing crackdowns and falling viewing figures.
USA: Subscription video on demand (SVOD) market share
In the States, HBO Max had the most growth (+2%) in market share, more than Disney (+1%), which put it in third place. Netflix, still first overall, fell by 1%.
USA: Market share momentum
Charting those figures month-on-month shows how Disney+ is flatlining a bit, and AppleTV+ is sneaking up a bit.
UK: Subscription video on demand (SVOD) market share
AppleTV+ now has 6% of the market in the UK, but that’s still behind NowTV. JustWatch shows Netflix up by 1%, and that’s not mutually exclusive, with audience numbers going down. One is relative and the other absolute.
UK: Market share momentum
It’s a better story for Disney+ in the UK, which grows, but Sky looks to be in even an even poorer position than Paramount is in the States.
