John McGuire is the co-host of shows like Mai Tai Happy Hour and the co-creator of the RPG 3, 2, 1… Action!
It’s 3, 2, 1… Action! that the cinematic storytelling game Children of UMA uses. It’s a post-apocalyptic setting of gang life outside the cities. There’s a free rulebook, at least while the Kickstarter is one, and more details from the project page.
The 3,2,1… Action Rule Book by Geo Collazo and John is available from this DropBox link, and you go into a folder rather than straight into the weighty download. But it’s not that weighty, coming in at 28 pages.
The rules are designed for cinematic storytelling, which suits Children of UMA, inspired by those great 70 and 80s post-apocalyptic stories where survivors roam the wasteland and often need to escape, or chase, at speed to survive.
The RPG will be an 8.5 inch by 5.5 100-page black and white book if successful. There are PDF, soft and hardcover versions in contention.
In Children of UMA, you are a member of The Hellsings, a band of wayward orphans who finds themselves in a post-apocalyptic Dust Bowl with electric vehicles and whatever weapons they can find to survive.
A pledge of $7 is enough for backers to pick up the core rules for 3, 2, 1 and the Ski Quest solo adventure as PDFs. However, it’s at $10 when Children of UMA in PDF is added in.
There’s a more PDFs added by other tiers, and then, at $20, the physical copies begin to appear, including the softcover of Children of UMA.
The hardcover edition is in the $35 tier. There are many more tiers up to $200, where you get to add your surname to a character who dies in the game’s lore.
John and the team have September 2022 slated as the delivery date.
