The first trailer for the Kokyu no Karasu anime lets us hear some of the character’s voices and teases the drama.
The show will premiere on Japanese TV in October.
Chizuru Miyawaki will direct the anime and is the same talented director from Gintama.
The novel was written by Kouko Shirakawa and is a “Chinese fantasy” about a concubine. Ryu Jusetsu lives at court and is available for the emperor’s pleasure, but Koushun does not call for her.
Rumours swirl as to why this might be. Is Ryu actually a magic-user who only appears to be young and attractive? Is she secretly a crone, and the emperor knows? She’s certainly able to find lost items with ease.
Until one night.
One fateful night, emperor Koushun appears in the harm chambers himself. That encounter and the haunted jade earring the emperor was wearing are enough to unravel history.
If the series comes to streaming platforms and picks up an English alternative name, it’ll be something like “Karasu in the Inner Palace”.
