The Gallant Goblin has a Kickstarter success on their hands, and what a cute success it is.
There are still about three weeks to join the hundreds of gamers and secure a Kobold Plushie. There are six of the colourful softies to pick from, and like any good adventuring party, they have their own accessories. In this post, after the Kickstarter, you’ll get an exclusive world look at what might be the first accessory add-on pack.
Why “might”? The Gallant Goblin is still discussing manufacturing constraints with the factory, but if there are none, then these druid goodies could be coming your way. You can pledge from the pitch page.
Years of research have gone into these kuddles, notes the Kickstarter, and it’s entirely believable.
Every $8,000 the campaign makes will introduce a new Kobold hero with voting deciding which one. The little dragons feature in The Gallant Goblin’s free Bonfire Bites webcomic and 5e adventures.
The six kobolds in the initial campaign have swappable accessories so you can customise your plushie. The Gallant Goblin tells Geek Native that there was interest in “accessory-only” packs without Kobolds attached. Why? So gamers could do what gamers do – and further, customise the kobolds into new classes.
Kobold Druid accessory pack
Hopefully, the kobold factory has no problems with these designs, and we get the leaf cape, staff, messenger satchel and antler headpiece. That antler headpiece might remind you of a particular actual play character, but the news, the aspiration, the messenger bag might be large enough to hold a set of gaming dice caused my ears to perk up.
Kobolds are small, wingless lizards who believe they’re descended from dragons! What they lack in size they make up in spirit, and they’re known for being inventive, persistent, and community-minded. Each of our kobolds is an aspiring adventurer, ready to spring into action as one of six traditional fantasy classes and become a hero in your story!
Kobold Plushie tiers
You can back this project for any amount of money, and for just that first $1, you get the digital rewards and access to the BackerKit later.
If you can back at $35, you’ll get a kobold of your choice and those digital rewards.
There’s a lot more than just plushies in the campaign, though. There are minis and other merch. The first of these, the STLs, are a reward at the $40 tier, and six kobold colour pins are at $50.
Hardcore collector? All six kobold plushies are rewarded at $192, but the top tier is $300, including the pins and goblin coins.
Temptingly but dangerously, The Gallant Goblin estimate that the Kobolds might be shipping by December this year. So, yeah, these could be gifts, but that’s never a sure-fire thing with Kickstarters and international shipping.
