Aldis Hodge from Black Adam and Leverage will voice John Stewart in DC’s latest addition to their Animated Universe.
Green Lantern: Beware My Power focuses on the discharged marine who is suddenly made a Green Lantern.
On pre-order now, the feature-length animation is due out in July on 4K, Blu-ray and with a digital release too.
This version of Beware My Power was revealed back in DC FanDome, along with many others, last October. It’s not common for John Stewart to get his own show, and the trailer shows, well, the confusion created when he approaches the Justice League. It seems fitting.
Other heroes in the animation are a traditional Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Vixen and Adam Strange. They’re revealed in the trailer before a cut back to the Ring picking Stewart.
Sinestro, of course, leads the charge as a villain as we hurtle into the Rann/Thanagar War.
The official synopsis says;
In Green Lantern: Beware My Power, recently discharged Marine sniper John Stewart is at a crossroads in his life, one which is only complicated by receiving an extraterrestrial ring which grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth. Unfortunately, the Ring doesn’t come with instructions – but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe. Now, with the aid of the light-hearted Green Arrow, Adam Strange and Hawkgirl, this reluctant soldier must journey into the heart of a galactic Rann/Thanagar war and somehow succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed.”
