Darklight Interactive is running a short Kickstarter to update the whole 135-page adventure and dungeon crawl The Heart of Fire to the 5e rules.
At the time of writing, there are over 100 backers. That’s enough support to carry the project easily over the target. You can find out more, or pledge, from the pitch page.
Darklight often offers Pathfinder rules, but not this time; it’s too large an adventure. There’s also additional time pressure due to the complexity of the conversion.
The original approach to the dungeon was specially designed with 4e in mind, and each room was its own self-contained encounter. D&D 5e has a very different style. The publisher, David For, says they’re considering keeping this approach despite the differences, which adds to the work reflected in the delivery date.
The PDF and print on demand versions are expected to fulfil in September 2022, with the limited physical edition in October.
Over a century ago, the region was terrorized by Vulkanon, a fearsome volcanic dragon that rose from an active volcano on the small island of Pyrias.
To deal with the threat, the locals hired a group of adventures led by Raylen Darathar — a powerful elemental mage — to seek out of the dragon and destroy it. Raylen returned from his mission mortally wounded, but succeeded where others had failed. The volcano fell silent, the attacks stopped, and the island believed itself to be safe once again.
As the volcano begins to tremble once again, fearful rumors spread that the great dragon has somehow returned. Sailors whisper of a dark mage that has managed to resurrect the great dragon Vulkanon and intends to use its power to decimate the area. Pyrias seeks heroes once again to save itself from a fiery destruction.
Backers can support the campaign with social shares and $1 pledges. Those who offer at least $16 will get the PDF for the campaign and a discounted print on demand.
Those supporters who can spare $30 to boost the project will get the one-shot Party Crashers, Witness Protection and The Sands of despair in PDF.
That limited edition is there for backers at the $70 tier, but limited in number and half sold out.
