AshyFeetGames has released a free 30-page quickstart of Shibuyan Knights.
To be precise, it’s a Pay What You Want and with a $0.00 suggested price by AshyFeetGames. You can tip, and at 30-pages, that feels fair.
The anime-style game is inspired by Vince and Meguey Baker’s Apocalypse World and John Harper’s Blades in the Dark.
Shibuyan Knights is an Anime style RPG that lets you play adventures like some of your favorite Anime shows and movies. It ships with the steampunk, magical world of Shibuya, where everything works on favors, and as you rise in Reputation Level, you gain more influence and power in the city.
The game offers quick character generation and a tone that works for light-hearted games for youngsters or fun-loving adults and into the murky grays. It’s a game where combat need not always be, and sometimes should not be the solution.
There are maps of Shibuya, the titular city, a fantasy version of modern-day Tokyo and has guilds, organisations and other groups.
GMs benefit from step by step advice on how to run in the city and have custom rules to build vehicles, gadget spells and even mecha.
Character ideas include;
- Roppongan,
- steampunk Tink,
- battle toughened Warrior,
- fist-fighting Monk,
- Brewer chemist,
- Arcane mage,
- Tsukijan pirate.
