Magi-Knights is a 5e-powered TTRPG of magical girl and sentai manga. The magical girl genre is one in which the hero has two lives, transforming from mundane girl to superhero, and sentai is a hero-team in the Power Ranger vibe.
Helmed by Derek and Kira Salgy, the Magi-Knight Kickstarter has found access. The asking goal of $20,000 has been met, 50% over and with three weeks for more funds to come in. You can see the latest total or pledge and the pitch page.
Drawing specifically on 1990s themed Magical Girl and Sentai but also inspired by more modern stories, Magi-Knights is a school by name and monster battle by night RPG.
Characters are members of a Squadron who take on Spectral Outsiders and Servants of Evil while transformed into their Magi-Knight Persona.
The game offers a setting as much as it does rules with items like the Soul Crystal and the Lapis City location, powers like Transform and Track Outsiders, all being used to bring the anime-style game to life.
In Magi-Knights you start out as an ordinary student who can come from any background, and any location in the world. Then, a tragic event occurs that normally would result in your untimely death, but, just before you take your last breath, you are visited by the Herald who offers you another choice. Do you want to let fate take the life it has come to claim, or would you rather become a magical hero and work with a team to stop the Invading Evil?
A pledge of $20 is enough to secure the game in PDF and a wallpaper too.
There are other tiers, but backers who hit $50 will get a hardback of the game and, at $60 also get their name added.
Beyond that, at $300 or above, there are bonuses such as artwork and more calls outs, but these are limited.
