You can tell a lot about a geek’s reaction, perhaps their age, when you say “Willow” to them, and they either think Buffy or Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer.
The latter pair did a surprisingly-not-cheesy despite some cheese fantasy flick. Evil wizard, raiders, soul survivors, wizards apprentice with reluctant warrior sort of thing.
The Ewok and Harry Potter actor, Warwick, is back in the titular role as Disney+ has a new series.
Willow is due out in the States on November 30th of this year and will be available in the Uk, most of Europe and Australia at the same time. I’m not saying it’s not coming to New Zealand, but I can see two Canadian and two Indian releases (for languages) but no New Zealand in the data here.
IMDB agrees, but then all they have for the synopsis is;
TV adaptation of the fantasy film ‘Willow’, which centered on a dwarf farmer who does magic.
Willow was filmed in Wales and hit delays due to Covid restrictions. John Chu, the director, eventually stepped away from the project. Not entirely Covid’s fault, as Chu had a second child and wisely wanted time to be a dad.
Erin Kellyman (Enfys Nest in Solo: A Star Wars Story) plays Jade, Ellie Bamber (Lydia Bennett in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) is Dove, and Ruby Cruz (Jess Riley in Mare of Easttown) is Kit. There’s also Adwoa Aboah as a character called Scorpia (the model), which has the ring of evil wizard.
