HBO and Hulu came to nought here in the UK, and we have no Paramount+, despite having all the Star Trek.
JustWatch’s state of market share of SVOD platforms makes some sense to me, then. Netflix is the boss, but Prime Video is stalking along.
Disney+ launched well and has been slowly climbing since, chipping away at the big two. It also shows HBOMax making a serious charge in the last year or so.
There is no sign of Paramount+ in JustWatch’s data, it’s tucked away in “Other”, but the search engine/recommendation site doesn’t break out YouTube either. And I’m curious how Crunchyroll might stack up. Is that in “Other” too?
YouTube is a strange beast, so it’s hard to say what people are watching on it. It could be funny cat videos, but it might also be the latest blockbuster, and I wonder how much it messes up JustWatch’s figures.
AppleTV+ does get a look in, as does Hulu, but only just.
Netflix isn’t great at sharing data, but right now, the smart money is that Don’t Look Up is still the biggest hit on the platform. Indeed, the top trailer for it has had more than 15 million views (on, er, YouTube).
