After the Loke Battle Mats video pitch for their RPG Encounter Toolboxes, my first thought was that they’d be great for beginner DMs starting out.
But, well, you’d be a savvy DM beginner to find your way to Kickstarter or even to know what to look for in retail. Perhaps that’s why Loke actually pitches these sets of DMs who know what they want. These Toolkits are designed to be full of bits and pieces to bring the 5e Veiled Dungeon or Long Road adventures to life or be used at your whim. You can see what I meant from the pitch page.
You get inside a set of maps you can write on and then wipe clean; they’re for pre-written adventures that come in softback but can be used for any scene that fits.
There are also unique monsters and random encounter generators.
A free sample, a teaser, is A Tale of Two Sitters you can download from DriveThruRPG.
We are designing The Veiled Dungeon & The Long Road as a collection of areas which fit together. Each area has its own set of random encounters designed for it, its own monsters, and of course its own maps!
Backers at the $25 mark will be thanked with about $36 worth of content. That’s the digital version of both adventures, tricks and traps, a digital edition of Loke’s Big Book of Rooms and all stretch goals.
EU and UK backers watch out; VAT is still to be added. That might seem odd, but rates are different, and to be a stickler to rules, Loke needs to record where you are, charge the right amount and prove they did.
At $34, you can get either The Veiled Dungeon or The Long Road Toolbox in physical and digital form.
$60 in support, which is about £48, will get you both.
The highest tier is $100, and that gets you both Tookboxes, the Box of Tricks & Traps, the Big Book of Rooms, digital goodies and all the stretch goals.
Loke estimated delivery around June 2023.
