Top Gun: Maverick has been a fly away success, and Tom Cruise’s Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is front of mind again. JustWatch’s data shows that the original is also flying high, well over three decades old.
The new movie is out in the UK, the US and around the world (Tickets: Cineworld | Fandango) and is expected to hit Paramount+ in a month and a half.
That’s mixed news here in the UK. We don’t have Paramount+ yet but it’s expected to launch on 22nd June. It should therefore arrive before the fighter jets. You just have to decide whether there’s room for another streaming platform in your life.
However, you don’t need Paramount+ to stream the original and JustWatch’s data shows that loads of people have taken advantage of that.

JustWatch is a search engine for online entertainment. The free service helps you find what to watch and it can therefore estimate what people are watching.
The UK and US movie consumption data puts the original Top Gun out front.
The data for TV shows is mixed, with Obi-Wan Kenobi appearing in both but only just making the top five in the UK and not getting there in the States. Instead, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds lists higher and after shows like Better Call Saul and Under the Banner of Heaven.
