Savage Battlelords is the merger of the 30-year-old and deadly sci-fi RPG Battlelords of the 23rd Century and the latest edition of Savage Worlds.
You will need a copy of Savage Worlds Adventure Edition ($9.99) to play. However, you can also check out the current Quickstart Rules for free.
The Kickstarter for the merger has hit the target, and you can see how well it’s doing, or pledge yourself, from the campaign page.
The Battlelords team, not PEG, are running the Kickstarter.
I don’t know Battlelords very well, but a first glance at the pitch makes it clear that it’s about looking cool in deadly armour.
A read of the pitch makes it equally clear – there’s a very good reason those NPCs are wearing armour. There’s a war going on, and you’re probably in the thick of it.
Battlelords is a game set in a dangerous future. An Alliance of Humans and aliens is fighting for survival. The techno-organic hordes of the Arachnids have destroyed worlds and decimated populations as they advance into Alliance territory. Against the backdrop of war, players can take the fight to the ‘Nids. Play as a corporate mercenary, soldiers in the Galactic Armed Forces, or as bounty hunters. Feel like something a little more underhanded? Corporate spies and pirates make money the old fashion way… by stealing it.
The setting will introduce;
- 94 New Edges & 21 New Hindrances.
- 15+ weapon systems (136 individual weapons).
- 32 suits of armour and 90+ armour options.
- 120+ pieces of sci-fi equipment.
- 3 New Powers, 25+ new Power-specific modifiers, & 36 generic Power Modifiers.
It takes a pledge of $20 to get the PDF of the rules, but you can support the campaign through social shares or any amount.
If you can go as high as $40, there’s also a print copy of the rules and stretch goals in the rewards.
Tiers beyond this are limited in number. The first adds swag and will set you back $150. Swag includes toe tag, dog tags, playing cards and an exclusive t-shirt which I’d like but can’t get as it is complete.
The top tier is $350 and the delivery for it all feels just around the corner; August 2022.
