I’m putting Amazon Prime’s Paper Girl series into Superhero Week as it’s based on a comic book by Brian K Vaughan.
My “to-read” list has had the title underlined by friends for too long, and while I don’t think the paper girls are superheroes, it is sci-fi of superpowers and heroes.
The eight-part series is due out on the 29th of July.
Amazon describes the series;
It’s the day after Halloween in 1988 when four young friends accidentally stumble into an intense time war and find themselves inexplicably transported to the year 2019. When they come face-to-face with their adult selves, each girl discovers her own strengths as together they try to find a way back to the past while saving the world of the future.
The super-powered villains are the Old Watch, or a militant faction of them at least, who police time travel to maintain their power. The drama ramps up with other factions of time travellers getting involved.
Cliff Chiang illustrated the comic book series, while I think Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4) and Christopher C. Rogers (Halt and Catch Fire) helped adapt the TV version.
