Insight Editions has a good-looking Marvel fan book with authors Marc Sumerak and Daniel Wallace on board. Jonah Lobe impresses as the artist.
The hardcover is available to pre-order, discounted and new out in October.
I know it won’t be for everyone’s tastes, but I love how the anatomy illustrations flirt between the morbid and fascinating.
Also, I’m grateful that either retailer Forbidden Planet or Insights Edition gave us a mix and match of preview images. There are big names like The Thing, slightly less well-known such as Red Hulk but also more geeky niche like Jocasta, who was built to be a bride for Ultron before rebelling and becoming an advocate for treating AI fairly and kindly.
The book should also have the likes of Spider-man, Thanos, Mystique, Groot even Shuri, and commentary from the two authors. There’s even a backstory with Skrull trying to shape-shift into Earth, so we have King T’Challa using Wakanda’s science (our pictures) to see which supe might be most at risk.
There are over 100 unique illustrations in the book, and that translates into looking at (and into!) more than 60 characters.
