Modiphius has some great titles in their tabletop RPG range, and today, at the 2d20 Summer of Gaming announced more details for their 2d20 commercial program.
The 2d20 World Builders program will allow third parties, the likes of use and me, to use the publisher’s in-house titles as the basis for projects sold for money. DriveThruRPG will be the retail platform, they have experience in the field, and while the new partnership with Roll20 doesn’t extend to community content, it is on the cards.
The deal doesn’t mean you can create Fallout or Dune games. The 2d20 World Builders program grants permissions for titles like Achtung! Cthulhu and Cohors Cthulhu games that Modiphius invented, owns and can permit you to use.
2d20 World Builders comes with more than permission, though. Modiphius will help small creators with distribution, and there’s even the possibility of titles being picked up for the VIA Modiphius program. 2d20 World Builders projects will get support with rules, logistics and printing advice. These titles might appear in newsletters and social media, and there’s even PR advice. Hello, PR-friendly blogger here (not you NTF bros).
Chris Birch, Chief Creative Officer and co-founder at Modiphius told the press;
Our commercial licensing program will let partners produce core books, which typically sell five times better than supplements. As part of the program, we will support partners with a whole range of logistics and marketing. Our goal is to help them become a commercial and creative success.
The titles will be promoted through a new 2d20 portal on the main Modiphius site.
