Kenichi Kondo’s Dark Gathering is getting the anime treatment. The director will be the talented Tonikawa: Over the Moon For You showrunner Hiroshi Ikehata and it’ll be made at studio OLM, who have done Summer Time Rendering and Oddtaxi.
Dark Gathering is due in 2023. We’re safe until then. That’s too early for any streaming platforms to have shared whether or not they’ve bought the rights.
Yeah, that’s the style of teaser trailer you get when an anime has just been announced, and some of the manga is motion cut together for the announcement. But! It works so well for Dark Gathering.
In the manga, Keitaro Gentoga is a college student tormented by his ability to interact with spirits. His solution for dealing with this is to limit his exposure to people and try and make a living as a private tutor.
In typical lousy luck manga style, Keitaro’s first student, Yayoi Hozuki, gets him caught up in her quest to find the spirit that whisked off her mother.
