Mew-Tants is an indie RPG from 2020 by Aled Lawlor. Lawlor has since co-founded Leyline Press and taken the long-promised sister RPG, Were-Woofs!, to Kickstarter.
The doggos have succeeded as the campaign was funded in less than half a day. There are fewer than two weeks left on the clock, but you can find out more or join in on Kickstarter.
Someone let the dogs out.
In this all-age-appropriate RPG, the player characters are dogs, just normal dogs, but dogs with jobs.
Except, once, you were human.
Your job grants you a second broad ability in addition to a stat bonus, and your dog breed grants you your base stats and a dog ability. You will receive advantages to your dice rolls when using your abilities, but be careful—doing too many dog things will reduce your effectiveness at work, and too many job things will reduce your doghood!
Were-Woofs! is a tabletop roleplaying game designed for 3-5 players. It contains all of the rules you need to play the game as well as an adventure. One player takes on the role of the Games Master who runs the game and everyone else plays as different dogs with jobs. All you need to play Were-Woofs! is a copy of the rules, a set of d6 and some pencils and paper.
You can support the indie project by telling people about it or pledging cash. If you can pledge £6, there’s a PDF edition of Were-Woofs! as a thank you in return.
At £10, there’s also a physical copy of the 24-page zine in that thank you as well.
However, if you’re interested in Mew-Tants, who live in the same world as the Were-Woofs, you can go £10 to get both doggo and catto PDFs or £18 for both in physical form.
The expected delivery is 2023, in February.
