Edinburgh-based (the best city) Stout Stoat has a Kickstarter “Project We Love” for ZineQuest.
One Breath Left is a procedurally generated spaceship-creating solo-journaling sci-fi survival horror game in which you are an Explorer trying to work out what happened on a Wreck. At the time of writing, there are about two weeks to get involved.
One Breath Left is running as part of ZineQuest, and if it’s successful, it’ll be published by Brian Tyrrell’s Stout Stoat Press, but it’s designed by Ian Howard.
In the solo game, you draw cards from a Navigation deck to create your random Wrecks and manage Oxygen as a resource to allow you to explore and use tools necessary to deal with triggered Perilous Events.
There will be a digital version, a physical zine and a deluxe one.
The Explorers you play, the Contracts you undertake, and the Wrecks you explore are all customisable and interchangeable, leading to thousands of perilous adventures through the vacuum of space.
There are hardship pledges to go for if you’re struggling for cash, but your mental health will benefit from a game and delivery slated for February to April 2023.
A pledge of £15 supports the campaign and is enough for Stoat Stout to give you a PDF copy of the zine as a thank you.
The physical game, which includes the deck, is added to thank you pile at a £25 pledge tier. The deluxe version, limited to only 100, is £50.
Shipping will be needed on the physical tiers and calculated with a BackerKit integration at the end of the campaign.
