Exalted Funeral and Crowbar Creative announced they’ve secured and will Kickstart the official Monty Python RPG with a bold statement.
If such middling, obscure franchises as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings get to have RPGs, why not Monty Python?
The ‘Mediaeval-themed’ RPG will use original rules, which will be part of a core book, along with help on designing Monty Python adventures, character generation, a bestiary, retinue and NPCs, random generators and pre-written adventures.
A minigame called Fetchez la Vache is also included, which is a madcap, backgammon-based system which uses, er, farm animals and dice catapults!
The full name of the RPG is Monty Python’s Cocurricular Medieval Reenactment Programme and will have several versions;
- Bloody Peasant Edition
- Sensible Middle Class Edition
- Public School Edition
- Upper Class Twit Bundle
There will be custom dice and a GM screen known as a Head of Light Entertainment Screen.
Crowbar and Exalted Funeral say;
Monty Python’s Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme, which is, in fact, not a role-playing game (silly), but rather a very rigorous course of study intended only for serious students of English History. It is by no means a complete and comprehensive manual for running imaginative, highly unpredictable, Mediaeval-themed role-playing games based upon the complete comedic output of Monty Python with one’s friends. *
and
*The publisher wishes to add that this is, in fact, exactly what it is: a tabletop role-playing game.
