Alchemy RPG’s first Kickstarter became a 2022 ENnie nominee, and now the young studio is back with the next in the Lore of Aetherra series. Dark Symmetry is a 5e science-fantasy campaign setting and adventure saga.
The ask for the campaign was to raise $10,000, and today, with three weeks plus on the crowdfunding clock, nearly $75,000 has been raised. This campaign is doing well and has a “Project We Love”. You can find out more or back on Kickstarter.
Dark Symmetry expands the world of Aetherra and its technological mystery. With a 250+ page campaign setting and adventure, your party can continue the Lore of Aetherra saga or uncover the mysteries of Chrysalea with your own campaign.
Those who missed the first Kickstarter can secure the re-release of the first book in the series, The Lost Druid, as part of the Primarine, Openda, and The Mother Tree reward tiers, or as an add-on to any tier in both digital and physical forms. Together, they form a Level 1-10 adventure and a campaign setting for Chrysalea, totalling over 500 pages of content.
The Mother Tree is dying, and with it, all hope for survival in the mythical underwater city of Chrysalea. Beneath the thinnest veneer of civility and decorum lies a civilization obsessed with technological progress and racing to find an answer before that hope is snuffed out. Breaking their millennium long isolation, the Chrysaleans, led by Queen Lillius, sent a lone spy to Fano above to search for Gilgazo, the last of the Allianders. Time is short, and rumors of what his arrival might signify swirl throughout the habitats and give birth to macabre conspiracies.
Given the doom lurking on the horizon, some choose violence. Revolutionaries known as the Daybreakers risk their lives to disrupt the advancement of science, believing that technology will destroy Chrysalea faster than the problems it aims to solve. Whether you continue on from The Lost Druid or use one of the included adventure hooks, beauty and deceit alike await you at the bottom of the lake.
There’s a generous heap of rewards, including dice, animated scenes and even heavyweight vinyl. The pledge tiers reflect this.
A pledge of $30, about £26, and a projected saving of over 50% on the likely retail price. Backers at that level will get a PDF of the Lore of Aetherra: Dark Symmetry and the Alchemy Content Module.
You can support the campaign by sharing it on social media or for smaller money-offers, but the next tier up, Daybreaker, is $50 (an MSRP of $120), and adds the Standard Edition of Lore of Aetherra: Dark Symmetry. The publisher supports worldwide shipping.
$100 pledges get a standard edition of The Lost Druid, the supporting content module and a PDF.
There are plenty of tiers, each offering add-ons, and by the time we’re at $300, there are limited editions of The Lost Druid and Dark Symmetry, resin dice from both, vinyl soundtracks for both and supporting modules.
Alchemy RPG has set an estimated delivery date of June 2023.
