Hirotaka Adachi wrote and directed Exception, Yoshitaka Amano designed the characters, and Ryuichi Sakamoto scored the anime. Those are some pretty big names.
Netflix’s sci-fi horror will debut around the world on October 13th. I’ve checked, and that won’t be a Friday the 13th; it’s a Thursday.
The anime was first announced last year, and we didn’t get to know much about it back then. We just had a spooky teaser image. Now we have a synopsis;
In the far future, humanity has been driven from Earth and forced to move its population to another galaxy. Members of a scouting team are sent to search for a planet suitable for terraforming. The crew is created through a biological 3D printer, but a system malfunction causes one of the crew members, Lewis, to emerge in a deformed state. As Lewis turns on his fellow crew members Nina, Mack, Patty and Oscar, a countdown to the end of the mission begins in the frightening darkness of the ship.
We also have some of the cast;
- Chikahiro Kobayashi (Regoshi in Beastars) as Lewis
- Takahiro Sakurai (Griffith in the 2016 Beserk) as Mac
- Yuko Kaida (Aiho Yomikawa in A Certain Magical Index/Scientific Railgun) as Nina
- Takanori Hoshino (Jack Atlas in Yu-Gi-Oh) as Oscar
- Atsumi Tanezaki (Chise in The Ancient Magus’ Bride) as Patty
